Six detained after gardai stop stolen lorries reporters

Gardai have arrested six men in connection with dissident republican activity. Three men from Northern Ireland were arrested just before midnight last night.

The arrests took place on the M1 outside Drogheda, Co Louth, when gardai stopped two lorries transporting alcohol. The lorries had been reported stolen.

In a follow-up operation, three more arrests were made in Delvin, Co Westmeath.

All six men are believed to be in their 30s. They are being held at Garda stations in Drogheda, Balbriggan, Navan and Kells.
