NOELEEN Brennan died almost 13 years to the day after her sister was shot alongside a man in a gangland-style hit.
Catherine Brennan (29) was gunned down in November 1995 as she sat in a car with Eddie McCabe, from Glenshane Park.
One theory at the time was that a leading Dublin criminal ordered the hit. Gardai worked on the theory that McCabe was the intended victim and Ms Brennan merely a witness.
In February 1996, three people were arrested over the double murder, but no charges were brought.
The murder trial of Derek Finlay heard how Noeleen Brennan had been deeply affected by her sister's death and began drinking heavily.
In a further tragic twist, Eddie McCabe's son, who was just 10 at the time of the shootings, died in December 2006 after a brutal beating.
Eddie McCabe junior, the father of a newborn baby, was found dumped in a cul-de-sac in Inchicore, Dublin.
Mr McCabe had a "rigid" object rammed into the right side of his brain, an inquest later heard.
