Singer Harper faces child sex trial

Veteran folk and rock performer Roy Harper is due to appear in court today charged with committing a series of child sex offences in the 1970s.
The singer-songwriter, who has performed with Pink Floyd and influenced rock band Led Zeppelin, faces nine charges including two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under 13.
At the time of charge, West Mercia Police said the offences with which Harper had been charged we re alleged to have occurred between 1975 and 1977 in the Herefordshire area.
Harper, 72, of Rossmore near Clonakilty in County Cork, is to appear at Worcester Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing.
