Singer fined €600 for drink-driving offence
FOLK singer Dolores Keane was yesterday fined €600 after pleading guilty to drink driving, writes Ann Healy.
Keane (58), from Caherlistrane, Tuam, Co Galway, had been ordered by Judge Mary Fahy to attend Galway District Court after she failed to show up last week when the case was first listed.
Keane pleaded guilty to drunken driving at Clonboo, Corrandulla, on November 19 last year.
She was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, and a breath sample showed a reading of 84mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath. The reading carried a three-year mandatory disqualification, said Inspector Sean Glynn. He said Keane had one previous conviction for a similar offence in June 2000.
Judge Mary Fahy fined Keane €600 and disqualified her from driving for three years.
