SICK children have netted a €12,500 Christmas present thanks to a fisherman.
Trawlerman and singer, Michael Cavanagh donated the money from the proceeds of his sell-out DVD 'My Work and My Music' to Our Lady's Hospital, Crumlin.
The big-hearted 63-year-old sold nearly 800 copies of the music disc in his home county of Donegal and in the Faroe Islands where he lands thousands of tonnes of fish every year.
"A lot of the money was raised thanks to the generosity of people in Donegal, but I raised about €5,000 in the Faroes and about €1,000 each in Denmark and Norway," said the father of five.
The skipper and his 11-strong crew fish out of Killybegs for mackerel, herring and tuna on his 65-metre trawler 'Fr McKee'.
He has raised more than €35,000 for great causes, including the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and the Coast Guard.
