Shots fired during garda op against organised crime reporters

Gardai fired shots during an operation into activities of organised criminals in Co Wicklow yesterday.

A car was stopped in Ballymore Eustace by members of the Organised Crime Unit and a man (30) was detained.

A firearm and a quantity of cash were recovered by the gardai who discharged a number of shots during the arrest.

A second car which failed to stop is being sought.

The man arrested in the operation is being held at Naas garda station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
