A man was treated for a facial wound in the middle of a busy Dublin shopping centre this afternoon.

The man was treated by paramedics with Dublin Fire Brigade at the scene on Henry Street before being taken to hospital

Henry Street is one of the busiest shopping areas in the country.

Several witnesses say two groups of individuals clashed between Debenhams and Arnotts.

A witness told Independent.ie: "A male and female were walking down the street, holding hands when they came across a group of three men.

"It sounded like a phone dropped and then two of the men were fighting each other."

The fight began with punching, according to an onlooker.

It's believed one of the men's face was slashed by another man, who was seen attacking him with a blade.

"Then he walked off calmly with the girl," the witness added.

A trail of blood can still be seen entering the Ilac Centre as the group of three men rushed inside for safety following the fight.

The victim of the facial slash was treated on a bench in the middle of the shopping centre by paramedics from Dublin's Fire Brigade.
