Shop stewards to decide on Aer Lingus strike

HOPES that a two-hour stoppage at Aer Lingus will be called off hinge on a meeting today between union shop stewards at the airline, writes Louise Hogan.

The SIPTU shop stewards will be considering 'clarifications' from the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) to help avert strike action next Monday in a row over a €750m hole in the company's pension fund.

The planned industrial action would involve around 2,500 staff at Dublin, Shannon and Cork airports.
