A Cork woman was called a "c**t" numerous times after she phoned a customer helpline when her email account became locked.

The call centre worker claimed to be an employee of Hotmail Customer Care but it was soon apparent that the number was a hoax.

'Sarah' phoned the Neil Prendeville Show on RedFM and told how she was verbally abused.

She googled contact numbers for helplines after she couldn't access her Gmail account and was directed to a scam operation.

The man told her he was going to access everything and download all her pictures.

"You deserve this, you c**t," he said.

When she asked his name, he responded: "F**king Jonathan...I don't f**king care about it. I don't give a s**t, I don't give a f**k."

Sarah said she was extremely offended by the incident and she still hasn't unlocked her email account.

"I was fooled, I had no idea this was fraud until he started calling me all those names," she said.

While it was a Cork number, she is convinced it was scam operation from overseas.

"The worst thing about it all is I still haven’t got my Gmail working."

The Neil Prendeville Show contacted the number and were told that the matter was "being investigated" by a manager.
