Ship refloated after accident

A SHIP which ran aground was successfully refloated yesterday with no damage to the surrounding environment or the vessel.

The Samskip Endeavour, a container ship weighing almost 8,000 gross tonnes, grounded on a sandbank in Waterford Harbour early yesterday morning after suffering a technical fault.

The Cypriot-flagged vessel was en route from Zeebrugge in the Netherlands to Waterford Harbour when the incident occurred.

A Waterford-based tug boat waited for the tide to come in and then helped her refloat.
