SHARON Shannon will play two benefit concerts in Australia early next year to honour murdered Irishwoman Jill Meagher.
The Galway-based trad star has included the two January gigs in Brunswick, Melbourne in January as part of a wider Australian tour.
She said one-third of proceeds from the January 11 and 12 concerts will be donated to the Centre Against Sexual Assault (CASA), "as a tribute to Jill's life and enduring spirit".
Carolyn Worth, spokeswoman for the charity, which runs 15 centres across Victoria, said she was "really grateful" for the planned donation.
She added: "I think it's a fabulous gesture for somebody to donate to the victims of sexual assault or to the memory of somebody who's been raped and murdered."
