Gardai are cracking down on a gang responsible for a spate of armed robberies and aggravated burglaries across three counties.
Officers from the south eastern region launched a series of raids on homes early yesterday morning and detained seven men, aged from late 20s to early 40s.
The men are suspected of being linked to a gang involved in a crime spree around south Tipperary, Kilkenny and Waterford over the past year.
The gang were usually armed with shotguns and threatened their victims as they robbed a number of pubs and filling stations and broke into the homes of business people across the region.
The raiders also issued threats to a Kilkenny garda, who was involved in inquiries into their criminal activities.
