Seven men have been arrested and about 100,000 euro worth of cannabis plants seized in a series of intelligence-led anti-drug raids.

Gardai searched 20 premises in the greater Dublin area this morning and found grow houses in 11 of the buildings, while nine of the buildings were being used to prepare the drug for distribution and sale.

A small quantity of cocaine was uncovered in the raids.

The searches were carried out under the command of Assistant Commissioner John Twomey on the back of Operation Nitrogen, which was set up last year to dismantle grow houses nationwide.

Seven men were detained under section two of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act in Garda stations in Clondalkin, Blanchardstown, Donnybrook, Bray and the Bridewell.

Gardai said investigations are ongoing.
