'Serious sex attack' on woman on Friday night - police appeal for witness to come forward

A woman was the victim of a 'serious sexual assault' in Belfast on Friday night, police have reported.

The PSNI have also appealed for a woman, who was out walking her dog who helped the victim, to come forward to help them with their investigation.

The attack happened in the Newtownabbey area of the city.

Detective Sergeant Gary Chambers said: "Police would like to speak to a woman who was out walking her dog and who assisted the injured party and conveyed her home.

"I would urge this woman to come forward as she may be able to assist us with our enquiries."
