TWO lanes northbound on the M50 were closed earlier this afternoon following an accident.

A serious collision occurred between junction seven  Lucan and junction six Blanchardstown earlier this afternoon.

It is understood multiple vehicles were involved in the accident.

Traffic was down to one lane and extremely slow as a result.

The accident has now been cleared and delays are expected to clear over the course of the afternoon.

Last week the southbound lanes were closed for seven hours following a fatal accident involving a car and two lorries.
