Senior hospital official removed from position
A senior administrator has been removed from his post in one of the country's major hospitals following an internal audit by PricewaterhouseCoopers, writes Eilish O' Regan.
The administrator's work in Tallaght Hospital in Dublin has now been outsourced to PricewaterhouseCoopers and a member of the auditor's staff has taken up a position at the hospital.
The company is believed to have carried out an audit at the hospital in recent months. A spokesperson for Tallaght Hospital declined to comment yesterday.
The move comes after a turbulent 12 months at the hospital which saw it embroiled in an scandal over X-rays which had not been read by radiologists.
A report by PricewaterhouseCoopers also found that the hospital was riven with mistrust and damaged by vested interests.
It said that Tallaght Hospital suffered from "unconvincing leadership at board and management level". It called for a slimmed down board.
