Sending letters will be great quack

AN POST yesterday issued a new set of stamps featuring four types of duck familiar on the country's waters and wetlands.

Designed by artist Killian Mullarney, the stamps show a Tufted Duck, a Red Breasted Merganser, a Gadwall and a Gargany.

This continues the popular flora and fauna series which have been issued by An Post every year since 1978.

Lough Corrib in Co Galway and Lough Conn in Co Mayo, the Shannon lakes and the Royal and Grand Canal are common viewing places for the Tufted Duck which is migratory and also breeds here.
