Send in the clowns for a wacky, watery weekend

Kathryn Hayes

LOUGH Derg will be the setting for a choreographed water dance later this month.

The performance -- a contemporary water dance commission in association with Waterways Ireland -- is one of the highlights of the 12th Terryglass Arts Festival in Co Tipperary which takes place from August 18-22.

Curated by Grant McLay, from Rex Levitates Dance Company, this once-off live show features water skiers and wake boarders, who will test themselves on August 22.

Headline music acts at the festival include singing star Rebecca Storm on August 20, and French acoustic singing troupe Txutxukan on Saturday and Sunday, August 21 and 22.

Festival chairwoman Valerie Cotter said that the event had become so popular in recent years that it quadrupled the Terryglass population.

"Now in our 12th year, the festival has become an established fixture on the arts festival calendar.

"As a local voluntary committee we are very proud to be able to deliver, year-on-year, a high quality diverse and original programme of events," she said.
