Senators and TDs brush up on art skills
POLITICIANS are often accused of being artful dodgers, or being adept at the art of waffle.
But various Oireachtas members are putting their artistic talents to a good cause.
TDs and senators will put their artwork up for sale this evening in the Mansion House in aid of Our Lady's Children's Hospital in Crumlin.
Tourism Minister Mary Hanafin and Labour's Ruairi Quinn are just two of those taking part in the event, which has been organised by Fine Gael TD Jimmy Deenihan.
Ms Hanafin is selling a Connemara photo and Mr Quinn submitted a painting. Mr Deenihan himself is contributing a photo, while Labour TD Liz McManus is selling a sketch of her kitchen.
Fianna Fail's Noel Treacy donated a painting of a vase of flowers and Senator Fiona O'Malley contributed an abstract artwork made from various materials.
