YOUNG people are being urged to consider a career in tourism, with a new drive launched by Minister Paschal Donohoe.
The 'Get a Life in Tourism' campaign by the Irish Hotels Federation was aimed at 15-18 year olds and was first launched a number of years ago - but was cancelled due to the economic downturn, the minister revealed.
"Now it's back," the minister said, speaking at the launch held at the Merrion Hotel in Dublin.
The tourism industry in Ireland employs 200,000 people and the sector is confident that another 45,000 jobs can be created in the next decade.
"In order to do that, we need to create demand for those jobs,"Mr Donohoe said.
As part of the campaign, the IHF is publishing a free print and digital magazine 'Get a Life in Tourism'.
