A 20 year old man is scheduled to appear before Portlaoise District Court tomorrow at 10.30am charged in connection with the murder of Christy Daly.
The man was arrested on February 19, 2014 in Dublin and was detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007 at Tullamore Garda Station.
Ross Allen of Kilmonaghan Lodge, Clara, Co Offaly has also been charged in connection with the murder of Mr Daly (47) - a father-of-six - at Kilbride in Clara on December 29, 2013.
Mr Daly's remains were discovered in a drain at Bog Road, Kilbride, Clara on January 7.
Daly was shot eight times in the chest and the arm almost a week before his body was found in the rural area.
His body was discovered sitting upright in a six-foot drain on a bog lane, near where he had been living in a caravan since his release from the Midlands jail in Portlaoise on December 7 last.
Following the discovery, the remains were examined by State pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy.
Gardai became concerned for his safety after his caravan and two vehicles were found burnt out on the Friday, close to where his body was found.
