A second fatal shooting took place in the west of Dublin city just hours after the murder of Michael Barr.

A male victim in his late thirties was shot in the Kilcronan area of Clondalkin at around 11.50 last night.

The victim was shot four times, including once in the torso.

Gardaí rushed to the scene and administered CPR to the victim.

However, the shot man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardaí are investigating the fatal shooting in Clondalkin but it is understood that it is not connected to the murder of Michael Barr.
