Second brother in road collision dies of injuries

A PENSIONER has died following a road accident that also claimed the life of his brother.

Michael Hourigan (75), from Ahane, Co Limerick, had been critically ill in hospital after a two-car collision on January 3. His older brother, Richard (77), died from injuries he suffered in the crash.

The two brothers, who were described as "best friends", were returning from Castleconnell to Ahane when their vehicle was involved in a collision with a 4x4 at Reilly's Cross on the old Dublin Road.

The 48-year-old driver of the other vehicle was released from hospital after being treated for his injuries and shock.

Michael Hourigan's funeral Mass will take place at Ahane Church at 11.30am tomorrow, with burial afterwards in Stradbally Cemetery.
