Search on for teen in feared double tragedy

GARDAI are continuing to liaise with the families involved in a feared double tragedy as the search continues for a missing teenager.

The body of 21-year-old Alexandra O'Brien from Dublin has already been discovered following a search of the River Foyle in Derry.

She had travelled to the city with her friend Kieran McKeon (18) after both had left a Dublin hospital, and a search was launched after some of Alexandra's personal belongings were found on the Foyle bridge.

Gardai have been investigating the incident since officers were contacted by the PSNI last week.

A spokesman confirmed they had received an initial report of the two missing persons and had been liaising with both families.

Searches continued on the River Foyle over the weekend for Mr McKeon and the search is expected to resume today.
