Search of Wicklow bay after man reported missing

A SEARCH was continuing in Wicklow bay today for a man who has been reported missing.

An object, thought to be a body, was spotted in the water off the east pier by walkers on Saturday and sparked a search.

However local lifeboat volunteers and the Coastguard found nothing on Saturday or Sunday.

Since then gardai have received a report about a missing local man with the information that he was seen in the harbour area.

The search resumed yesterday afternoon and is continuing today.

Two lifeboats from Wicklow have been joined at the scene by a Coastguard search and rescue helicopter, Coastguard and Civil Defence search teams and garda divers.
