A MAN has gone into the water off the Wicklow coast.

Garda reported the incident to the Irish Coastguard at 10.30am this morning after a wallet was found.

The Wicklow coastguard and in-shore lifeboats also searched the area but have not found anything yet.

The male is understood to be in his 40s, and is believed to be from the area.

“We’re aware of searches in the Wicklow town area involving the coastguard and the RNLI, and we’re involved as well – we believe there is a missing man there,” said a Garda spokesperson.

The search was called off on Tuesday afternoon due to poor visibility and will resume on Wednesday.
