Tending to a Rose's every need is a challenge - but those who think they are man enough are asked to rise to the occasion.

Applications are open to be one of the 68 escorts in this year's Rose of Tralee International Festival, which takes place on August 17-23.

The chosen escorts must attend bootcamp in advance of the festival and ensure that Roses are looked after at all times.

Applicants must be aged between 21 and 30, unmarried and of Irish origin. The pick of the bunch will be announced as Rose Escort of the Year on live television in August.

"Becoming a Rose Escort in 2015 has proven to be one of the best decisions of my life," said last year's winner Shane Kenny. "Words cannot describe the amount of fun, laughter and once-in-a-lifetime experiences I have gone through."

Applications can be made at www.roseoftralee.ie before March 31.
