Declan Waters from Liam Mellows Park in Wexford Town has not been seen since Monday.

Members of the garda search team were assisted by the Coast Guard yesterday morning as they stepped up efforts to locate Mr Waters (40).

Fears are growing for his welfare after forensic teams found blood at his home.

Insp Pat McDonald said officers were not looking for anyone else in relation to the disappearance and the case was being treated as a "missing person".

"We are making every effort to try and locate Declan. His family reported him missing on Tuesday afternoon but he was last seen at around 6pm on Monday in the St Aidan's Crescent area of Wexford Town," said Insp McDonald.

The area where he was seen is just an eight-minute walk from his home.

Declan is described as being 5ft 8in, of medium build with a shaven head. He was last seen wearing a black and brown striped top with brown jeans and runners.

Members of the Wexford Civil Defence are continuing the search for Mr Waters today.
