The awards, which celebrate some of the country's most inspiring people, yesterday launched its search for the next group of potential winners.

The public can make nominations online or by post and the closing date for entries is September 12. As well as a number of general awards, people can nominate their Young Person of the Year, Sportsperson of the Year and Community Group of the Year. The awards will be broadcast on RTÉ One on December 3.

Previous high-profile winners include Paul O'Connell, Brendan O'Carroll and Katie Taylor.
