Sean FitzPatrick released without charge

Former Anglo Irish Bank chairman Sean FitzPatrick was released without charge from custody this afternoon.

He had been arrested by appointment at Bray Garda Station yesterday morning and detained overnight under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.







Gardai said a file will be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.







Mr FitzPatrick was released around 2pm and driven away in a waiting car.







It was the second time he had been detained for questioning as part of the joint investigation by the Garda National Fraud Bureau and the Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement (ODCE) into alleged financial irregularities at the bank.
