Karen Kelly (25) was found lying unresponsive in her home in Farren Park, Waterford by her father shortly after 10am on Friday, according to the Sunday World.

The cause of her death is unknown.

Sources claim that Charlotte Mulhall was "shaken and upset" by the news.

Karen met mother-of-one, Charlotte, when she was serving a three-year sentence for assault at Mountjoy's Dochas Centre in 2009.

She was released from prison in 2012 and gave an interview to the Sunday World where she spoke of her love for Charlotte.

"I love Charlotte will all my heart. It is destroying me from the inside out not being able to see her.

"I sent her a wedding ring a few weeks ago in the post as I'm not allowed to visit her still.

"As I'm not officially allowed to marry her while she is in prison, the ring is a symbol of our love... that we will be together forever."

In May 2014, Karen was photographed with a syringe in her hand, after falling asleep outside the Central Criminal Court where she was facing robbery charges.

Sources say that the 25-year-old was inseparable from Charlotte during her various stints in Mountjoy Prison.

The Waterford woman described Charlotte as her "wife" on her Facebook page and posted images of a number of tattoos that were dedicated to her girlfriend.

They included a picture of Charlotte tattooed on her upper arm and her named inked on her back.

Charlotte was jailed with her sister, Linda, in 2006 for the gruesome killing of their mother's partner, 38-year-old Kenyan man Farah Swaleh Noor.

After stabbing him as many as 20 times they butchered his body and dumped it in the Royal Canal.

His head was never recovered after they transported it across Dublin on a bus and hid it in a park in Tallaght before moving it to another location.

"We had some good times girl.
