Morah Ryan and daughters Charlotte and Bonnie Ryan went before the cameras yesterday to launch Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The initiative advocates a few key rules to reduce the risk of cancer including getting active, watching your weight and cutting back on alcohol.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month is supported by Marks & Spencer, which is donating 10pc of the sale of a range of products to the campaign.
More than 3,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in Ireland each year and it is the most common cancer among women.
Early detection and improvements in treatments have meant more women are surviving the disease. Some risk factors can be significantly reduced through simple lifestyle changes.
"It is estimated that over 20pc of cases can be attributed to factors such as being overweight or inactive, therefore a couple of hours brisk exercise each week can reduce the risk," said Lillian McGovern, CEO of the Marie Keating Foundation.
