RTE bosses are to be called before an Oireachtas committee to discuss the controversy over the homophobia debate, now known as Pantigate.
The national broadcaster reportedly paid out €85,000 in damages following comments made on The Saturday Night Show.
But the apology by the station and the legal settlement has provoked controversy and hundreds of complaints to the watchdog.
The Oireachtas Communications Committee is to call RTE in to discuss the issue.
Communications Minister Pat Rabbitte said this morning that those involved in public debate should not reach for the defamation laws to vindicate their points to view.
