A team of novice rowers are preparing to paddle 116km from the Isle of Man to Ireland in just 14 hours, writes Elaine Keogh.
The crew, called Oars of Hope, are confident they will complete the trip and in doing so raise €20,000 for three charities in Co Louth.
The rowers will set off from Manx on Friday at 10pm to reach the Boyne, at Baltry on the east coast, the next morning.
"Our plan is to arrive in Drogheda around midday on Saturday and it's going to be pretty spectacular," crew member Stuart Heslin said.
