THINGS were looking particularly rosy for the kids at Crumlin Children's Hospital in Dublin yesterday.

With the 2011 Rose of Tralee festival almost in full bloom, the 32 contestants began a whistle-stop tour of Ireland by visiting some star-struck fans.

"It was really nice to see them and to be able to bring that joy to them," said Niamh McTague (22), Rose of Derby, England, one of 17 who spent two hours at the hospital.

"It was lovely; it was really nice and the kids were all brilliant."

The Rose of Tralee Festival will start in Co Kerry on Friday, with the much anticipated televised event beginning next Monday.
