Revenue ‘to examine’ property tax payment issue
The Revenue Commissioners will examine the issue of allowing homeowners to delay payment of the property tax until next year, Independent.ie has learned.
Revenue has told homeowners to pay their property tax bill for 2014 by November 27 - if they are making a single payment by credit or debit card or cheque.
Finance Minister Michael Noonan updated the Cabinet on the controversy surrounding the Revenue letters on the property tax.
Mr Noonan met with Revenue chairman Josephine Feehily last night to discuss the issue.
Revenue officials will examine the issue over the coming days.
Ms Feehily is due to appear before the Oireachtas finance committee on Thursday, to respond to questions from TD about the debacle.
