Retired cancer specialist dies

The death has occurred of Professor James Fennelly, the retired cancer specialist and former adviser to the Department of Health.

Prof Fennelly worked in St Vincent's Hospital in Dublin and was chairman of the National Cancer Forum which was set up in the 1990s. He died peacefully at Leeson Park House Nursing Home.

The removal will take place this evening from Leeson Park House to the Church of the Sacred Heart, Donnybrook, arriving at 6pm. The funeral is tomorrow after 10am Mass. He will be buried in Shanganagh Cemetery.
