Residents escape apartment fire in Kerry

RESIDENTS escaped from their apartments before fire destroyed a number of adjoining buildings in Killorglin, Co Kerry this morning.

The fire broke out at a commercial unit with apartments overhead on Langford Street in the town at around 4am and quickly spread to three adjoining units.

Six units of the fire brigade from Killorglin, Killarney and Tralee attended the scene where they are still bringing the fire under control.

There are no reports of injuries and the people living in the apartments were able to get out before the emergency services arrived.

Langford Street remains closed and diversions are in place.
