Health Minister James Reilly has warned St Vincent’s Hospital faces “serious consequences” after reportedly refusing to supply the HSE with details of allowances given to senior staff.
Speaking on RTE’s Morning Ireland programme, Mr Reilly described the situation as “unfortunate”.
It was reported in the Irish Times today that St Vincent’s has refused to tell a HSE audit into top-up payments how much they have been paying in private allowances to senior staff.
When asked about the situation, Mr Reilly said; “Well I think that’s very unfortunate. I think it’s very clear that people need to be in compliance, part of compliance is co-operating.
“If St Vincent’s Hospital insist on not co-operating, they’re heading for serious trouble in my view and there will be serious consequences for that hospital .”
