WOMEN with low-risk pregnancies can now immerse themselves in water to ease the pain of labour in a hydrotherapy pool which is part of a new state of the art delivery suite opened at The Coombe maternity hospital in Dublin.
The pool room which is aimed at promoting relaxation and decreasing pain during labour is the only one of its kind in Dublin.
The newly-renovated suite, opened by Health Minister James Reilly yesterday, was built at a cost of €4.7m, some of which came from the Friends of the Coombe fundraising arm of the hospital.
The suite involves a 405sq metre extension to the original building.
