Red-letter day for chic charity campaign
THE rush of campaigning for office saw style icon Liz O'Donnell drop a dress size.
But the former Progressive Democrat TD was yesterday simply dropping off a dress, ready for a charity sale tomorrow in Dublin, Cork and Galway in aid of the Down Syndrome Centre (DSC).
Ms O'Donnell waxed lyrical about fashion as she joined friend Julie O'Brien (11) from Trim, Co Meath, to hand in their frock donations.
"I've donated a grey off-the-shoulder dress by Yasmin Velloza, which I bought at my skinniest -- after a six-week election campaign when you drop a dress size.
"The DSC does great work and Buy My Dress is a great opportunity to let go of the gunas that you are not going to wear again."
She admitted: "Clothes are one of my weaknesses. I've always been into them and felt that just because you're a TD, you shouldn't be confined to dull black suits.
"I like well-tailored clothes with a bit of an edge, and Yasmin's clothes have a New York glamour feel about them: elegant and not showy."
