Recycling worker returns €1,500 he found inside old shoe in skip
A waste recycling worker has returned €1,500 to a family after the cash was thrown out in an old pair of shoes, writes David Kearns.
Surprised worker Costica Nedelcu came across the money as Panda Recycling staff were processing a skip used to clear out the home of a woman with Alzheimer's disease.
The money, which had been hidden in an old shoe, was returned to a family member on Monday evening, said Panda Recycling spokesman Paul O'Doherty.
The woman's daughter, who asked not to be named, said she appreciated the worker's "honesty and professionalism" in returning the cash.
Mr O'Doherty said this was the second time they had uncovered hidden cash in recent months.
