TWO rare signed photographs of Michael Collins are expected to fetch up to €3,000 each at auction this week.
The sepia photographs, which show Collins in the uniform of a captain of the Irish Volunteers, were taken shortly before the Easter Rising of 1916.
Also going under the hammer at Whyte's 'History, Literature and Collectibles' sale on Friday is 'Thiepval Ridge September 15th 1916' -- with a guide price of €700 -- which shows Royal Dublin Fusiliers overrunning German defenders in France.
The painting is being sold by the family of James Reilly, who was captured and interned by the Germans along with the artist responsible, fellow Royal Dublin Fusilier WG Rogers.
Meanwhile, a set of bronze sculptures of the seven signatories of the 1916 Proclamation is expected to fetch up to €20,000 at James Adam on St Stephen's Green today. It was created by Mayo-born sculptor Rory Breslin.
