When leaving Croke Park on Sunday, the Tralee-based garda, inset was approached by Diarmuid De Bhilis (11), who attends the Killarney Home from Home.

Diarmuid had been waiting outside the grounds with his aunt Maria O'Kelly and ran over to hug O'Mahony.

The kind-hearted footballer gave the boy his football boots.

Diarmuid's dad Dick said: "I was very moved when I heard about it.

"It was such a lovely, kind gesture by Aidan and we're hoping to raffle the boots now to raise some money for Home from Home."
