Pupils try to sing spring into full bloom

Maeve Martin (11), Ethan O'Connor (8) and Veeresha Bundhoo (9) from St Patrick's Cathedral Choir School gathered at The Ark in Dublin's Temple Bar yesterday as part of an experiment to see if singing to plants helps them grow.

Students from third to sixth class have been singing to potted daffodils in their school to mark the start of Spring Sing, a programme of workshops and events for schools and the public which starts at The Ark, a cultural centre for children, tomorrow.

Spring Sing will include public events at weekends and over the midterm break.
