PSNI hold five over Kerr death
OFFICERS investigating the murder of PSNI constable Ronan Kerr believe the arrests of five men yesterday could mark a "significant development" in the case.
Teams of 200 police officers swooped on a number of addresses across Northern Ireland in early-morning raids yesterday. Five men aged from 22 to 46 were arrested in the Coalisland, Bellaghy, Toome and Ballyronan areas, while clothing, mobile phones, computers and vehicles were seized.
Constable Kerr was killed on April 2 when a bomb exploded under his car. All five men remained in custody last night.
