PROTESTERS demonstrating ahead of the publication of a report on the handling of clerical child sex abuse allegations in the diocese of Raphoe have said it will be "another cover-up".

An audit on the diocese's 33 parishes by the National Board for Safeguarding Children is likely to be published in the coming weeks.

The Bishop of Raphoe, Dr Philip Boyce, said that he has fully co-operated with the process and insisted that all allegations of abuse were reported to the authorities.

However, speaking during a small protest at the Pro Cathedral in Dublin yesterday, John Deegan, of the Abused Catholic Children Association of Ireland, said that around 20 priests would be implicated in abuse, but that its real extent would not be revealed.

"We know for a fact that people made complaints and they weren't documented," he added. "It's another cover-up. Before it even comes out we know it's a cover-up."
