MORE than 200 demonstrators marched on the Dail demanding an end to the proposed property and water taxes.
As TDs began their debate on a new bill to introduce the controversial tax, which will come into effect in July, an alliance of mostly leftist parties – including Sinn Fein, The Socialist Party, Eirigi and The United Left Alliance – marched from the Central Bank Plaza to Leinster House, vowing to refuse to pay both taxes.
Protest organiser Ruth Coppinger, a Socialist Party councillor, said the household and water charges were simply more taxes being heaped on citizens who are getting nothing in return.
