Projects changed the face of city

CIVIL engineer Greg Coughlan (pictured) helped transform Howard Holdings into one of the most successful development companies outside Dublin over the past 20 years.

A graduate of the Crawford College in Cork, Mr Coughlan initially focused on the UK market in the late 1970s.

From his London base in the early 1980s, his operations expanded dramatically and ranged from land investment, property development and asset management.

Under his direction, Howard Holdings changed the face of Cork city with a series of high-profile projects, culminating in their €1bn-plus proposal to transform a 420-acre plot of the city docklands.

Howard Holdings also developed the successful boardwalk area near Cork's Clarion Hotel.
