Probe into Galway death

A garda investigation was under way last night after the body of a man in his 60s was discovered yesterday afternoon at his bungalow, which had been damaged by fire, just off the N63, near Ballyglunin, Co Galway, writes John Fallon.

It is believed that the man may have died of natural causes. He was named locally as Mattie Finn, a married farmer with four grown-up children.

It is believed he was in the house on his own overnight. The scene was preserved pending the arrival last night of the State Pathologist.

A garda spokesman said that anyone with information should contact gardai in Tuam on 093-24202.
